I had apparently gotten an infection called necrotizing fasciitis, and when I woke up in the ICU my leg was already gone. These guys are so empathetic. So kind so supportive so caring. They knew how to get me where I needed to be.
Tell us your story, how did you become injured/need a brace/an amputee?
I’m an artisan, award winning baker. I came home, went to bed, woke up and remember very little. I had apparently gotten an infection called necrotizing fasciitis. I remember very little, when I woke up in the ICU my leg was already gone. I just remember asking my surgeon what I had to do to get out of the hospital. I made him show me my leg, I was insistent on seeing it but I still had a hard time believing it was gone. The reality set in and from that moment I thought “Lord, get in this mix. I need you to show me how to do this, how to get out of this” When I saw my leg I said “I am going to do everything I did before and more” I’ve always been an athlete and know the roadmap to success.
How did you hear about Creative Technology OPS?
Originally I saw Hanger and they were horrible to me. I started praying about it and I asked God to help me find where to go. I drove past Creative Technology on Colorado Blvd and saw the sign. I prayed for the Lord to get me in with them. I saw Christian and did the Amp Pro test and was an immediate K4!
What was your experience with Creative Technology?
Right away with Christian I knew God directed me to the right place. These guys are so empathetic. So kind so supportive so caring. They knew how to get me where I needed to be.
What do you do in your free time?
I work out 6 days a week. I’m very active. I’m trying to get back to work., I’ve got a position consulting right now, starting with 3 hours a day working as chef. I was raised a hard worker and I am not used to not being busy. I do a lot of cooking at home, I am on the keto diet and do lots of interesting and fun foods. I volunteer in a heroin ministry at church as well.
Do you have any advice you would give to someone who has experienced what you have?
Two things. Trust god and number two never never never NEVER give up. No matter how much it hurts, how bad it looks, you must remember every second of every day that you are never going to quit. I’ve never quit and I am a 62 year old man and look how far I’ve come. Also don’t get isolated, a lot of people I thought would be around did not say around. Don’t get discouraged if people walk away from you, they’re not going on the same path that you’re going.
What has been your most successful moment?
Being able to walk without a crutch for the first time was so incredible. When I sit there and get on combat ropes or TREX cables without needing crutches. It is an incredible feeling!
